Getting started with the plugin for HTML5 players Equativ provides a HTML5 Video Plugin that helps publishers and ad networks to monetize their video inventory on HTML5 players. To make sure you have all features available for ad display, we have implemented two different approaches to delivering ads within Equativ's HTML5 Video Plugin: Two video tags Single video tag, switching resources Keep in mind that the usage of the two <video> tags or single <video> tag solution is managed inside the Video Ad Plugin; the publisher integration is the same. Two video tags For most devices, the HTML5 Video Plugin will create its own player on the page, adding a new video tag to the page as an overlay. This allows for the display of custom controls for ads (skip, time to skip, time to content, fullscreen and some other options). This is the main approach used for PCs, tablets and all mobile phones except the iPhone. Single video tag, switching resources This approach is used on iPhones, where video content opens on the native player which takes over the entire experience (known as QuickTime). The Video Ad Plugin uses the <video> tag from the content player, then switches the resource between ads and content.
